Buddha & Meher Baba

_
_
! ! THE TWO AVATHARS CONFER ! !
_
_
Nirvana
is the state where apparently

"GOD IS NOT ".
_
This state is the only state where
_
"God is Not"
and

"Consciousness Is"
.

_
This experience
of the first stage of
fana

is what
Buddha
emphasized
but later on
it was misinterpreted

as
Buddha
having emphasized that
there is no
God.
_
The reality, however is that

GOD IS :
but in the absolute vacuum state of
fana

only consciousness remains,
experiencing
absolute vacuum.
_
As it can never happen
for God not to exist,
in the state of nirvana
God
plays the part of consciousness itself,
which
consciousness in sometimes termed
super-consciousness
or
mahachaitanya.

_
The second stage of
fana

follows this nirvana state and the
"I am God"
state is experienced consciously.

God & His Avathars

Date: Friday, February 15, 2008
Subject: Bhau’s Message for
Beloved Baba’s 114th Birthday
Dictated: 14th February, 2008.

Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

*
_Beloved Baba
would from time-to-time remind us:

_

God is infinite,
and
He has and is
_
Infinite Power,
Infinite Knowledge

and
Infinite Bliss.

_
He does not take birth, and He does not die.
He remains as God all the
time.
_
He has no beginning and no end.
He is endless and eternal,
and He is
without a second.
_
God alone exists,
and no one and nothing exists except God.
As God is,
so also non-existence is.
It is the shadow of God,
and whatever
appears as existing
is non-existence in existence.
_
There are seven shadows (kingdoms) of God
in the gross sphere, four in
the subtle sphere
and two in the mental sphere.
_
But what are they?

How did these shadows come into the picture?
They came into the picture because of God's Whim,
_

"Who am I?"
_
God in the Beyond-Beyond state
did not know Himself when He got this
Whim.
When it came, God had to discover Himself
as to Whom He really
was.
In order to do this,
He had to pass through the seven kingdoms of

the gross sphere,
the four kingdoms of the subtle sphere
and the two

kingdoms of the mental sphere.
_
So God, as the Infinite Ocean,
appears in an infinite number of

divisions (or drops) as this Whim divides
His Oneness into manyness in order
to know
_
"Who am I?"
_
This is the Dream (or Illusion).

God always remains infinitely indivisible.
But until the mind is
annihilated,
and we come to know our Real State,
we see innumerable manyness

and find innumerable divisions in God
in the form of the Dream.
But
He is always One.
_
The Ancient One is the first drop
Who realized Himself as God and thus

became responsible for Creation,
which has no end.
_
How compassionate
He is
that He has taken upon Himself
the responsibility for the care of

the whole of Creation.
No one can take His place,
and His Work is
unending.
_
In every age, He takes form upon the earth,
but this form is also in

the Dream! He is not actually the form.
But as we are dreaming, we

cannot see the dream of Reality,
unless we ourselves become Reality itself.
_
In one age, He is called "Messiah."
In another, He is called the
"Avatar."
In still others, "Prophet or Rasool," etc.
_
He comes down upon
the earth age after age
to take Creation towards God.
Each time He comes

down into Creation, His Name is different,
the place where He comes is
different,
and His face is also different.
_
Because of these
differences,
in every age, people misunderstand Him.
But He is One and the same
One, the Ancient One.
_

Actually, why is His face different
each time He comes?

Because each time He comes,
conditions in the world have changed,
and
the particulars of His Universal Work
change accordingly.
_
He has
yoga-yoga (Divine-Free) impressions
for His Universal Work,
not the binding
impressions we have.
_
Our impressions bind us to Creation,
while His
impressions relieve Creation from its bindings.
_
Only He alone can give us the awareness
to free us from our bindings.

That is why He comes down again and again.
_
Avatar Meher Baba
_
is
the same One

who has come down to awaken the world

and show it the way towards God.
And because this is the end of cycle

of cycles,
His awakening will be throughout
the whole world.

Today,
we are celebrating His 114th Birthday
.

How fortunate are you who have come into His contact,
you who love Him

and obey His Wish to remain honest,
sincere and loving and who long to

love and love Him until you become One with Him.
You are really very
fortunate and blessed,
you who surrender at His feet and lead your lives

in order to please Him in love
through your sincerity and honesty.

Therefore,
O Lord Meher Baba,
allow us to love You as You ought to be

loved and make us live our lives for You
as they ought to be lived.

O Lord, make us Your true slaves
so that we may love and love you

without expecting anything of You.
If at all we have any expectation, let

it be that we turn towards becoming One with You.

O Lord,
make us surrender ourselves at Your feet.
May we bow down, bow

down and bow down at them
and not lift our heads from them until the

time You give us a kick, and our false selves disappear.
_
Jai Avatar Meher Baba!
_
May Your Birthday
become the death day of our false selves.
Only then
will we be able to understand
why You appear to take birth
and why You
appear to die
(though You are conscious of this Truth:
that You alone
exist and that You don't take birth
and don't die).
Your apparent
birth and apparent death
is for Your Universal Work.

You are duty-bound to take care of
everything and everyone.
_
What duty
You have undertaken, Lord!
It has become eternal, without any end and

without any beginning.
_

Victory unto Thee!
Victory unto Thee!
Victory unto Thee,

O Beloved Avatar Meher Baba!

Shabari of the New Era

_
_

Hazrath Babajan
of
Poona

_
Shine Spiritual Mother of God,
Poona's Holy Hazrath, Shine!
Migrator from Gaandhaara desha,
From under the neem tree, shine!

As Shabari waited for Rama,
You did wait till Mervan arrived
Dazzled by Your ascetic brilliance,
Fulfiling what the masters conspired.

Century and quarter of taapasic living
passed: Your divinity you did hide:
Time when did call, Virgin Mother! ,
Your spirit bore the heavenly child.

Shervan"s Spiritual Mother! know:
Your beloved Mother, India, too,
Is, of human mothers, the mother
And also mother of bhaktas true.

Our Mother's blinding brilliance
Is not new. India always shone,
Immortal as the Arunaachala ,
Shining before Vedas were born.

Every mother who loves India
is a spiritual mother true,
In her home, she lights her dhuni:
Agni is her mother too.

Sacrifice of the Avatar

ADVENT & CRUCIFICATION
_
_
Reality! You have no name!
You have no second either.
No one to call you by name,
A place nor identity neither.
_
But your shadow, this Illusion,
Non-existence, imagination bound,
Is only to train Consciousness,
To find You and dissolve, when found.
_
This mysterious place of duality,
Appearing on Existence, as its screen,
Brings up our separate identities,
To be actors, in scene after scene.
_
Ours is only Your consciousness,
With which, You, we must seek.
But when, by Grace we find you,
Dissolcve, when within your reach.
_
Often, to guide us in finding You,
You entered Illusion, an Avataar,
Became our Pathfinder every time,
Led us towards You from afar.
_
This is what we only had to do:
Join You in fulfilling Your mission.
But, always, giving you a name,
We sacrificed you to Illusion.

The Advent

by
Eruch Jessawala

In the Arti (hymn of praise) that Francis Brabazon wrote, he used the expression "Truth and Truth’s body, divine Avatar," which to my mind beautifully defines the Advent. Although the Sanskrit word "Avatar" somewhat explains the Advent as the descent of reality into illusion, to the people of this era, "Truth and Truth’s Body" makes the whole concept of reality in the midst of illusion clearer. Truth is reality and reality is Truth; and the body that is taken on by Truth is the body we see in the Advent, the figure of Meher Baba, or Jesus Christ, or Gautama Buddha.

Each time the Advent takes place, as explained to us by Meher Baba, it was pre-ordained in the previous Advent. So what we find as Meher Baba, is nothing but the projection or the unfolding of the plan which had been drawn up at the time of Muhammed. And all we can say, from what we have been given to understand by Meher Baba, is that the times and the circumstances suited his Advent as they did all previous Advents. The Avatar comes when the presence of reality in the midst of illusion is most necessary.

Whatever we say about the Advents and Avatars is a simple and obvious thing but we make a big issue of it. It is reality descending into illusion and functioning as such. However, reality is so spread out in the realm of illusion, that for itself to function in illusion is a rarity, and that is why the Advent is known as the springtide of creation. It is the greatest act of compassion of Reality that it should condescend to come down and function in illusion.

THE AVATHAR FROM NEPAL

*
* *

Conception and birth

Siddhartha was born in
Lumbini
and raised in the small kingdom or principality of
Kapilvastu,
both of which are in modern day
Nepal.

At the time of the Buddha's birth,
the area was at or beyond the boundary of
Vedic civilization;
_
it is even possible that his mother tongue was not an
Indo-Aryan language.
_
His community does not seem to have had a caste system,
and their society was not structured according to
Brahminical theory.
_
It was not a monarchy, and seems to have been structured
either as an oligarchy, or as a form of republic.
_
According to the traditional biography, however,
his father was
King Suddhodana,
the chief of the
Shakya nation,
one of several ancient tribes in the growing state of
Kosala;
_
Gautama
was the family name.
His mother,
Queen Maha Maya
and Suddhodana's wife,
was a Koliyan princess.
_
On the night
Siddhartha
was conceived,
Queen Maya dreamt that a white elephant
with six white tusks
entered her right side, and ten lunar months later
Siddhartha
was born.
_
As was the Shakya tradition,
when his mother Queen Maya became pregnant,
she left Kapilvastu for her father's kingdom to give birth.
However, she gave birth on the way, at Lumbini,
in a garden beneath
a sal tree.
_
The day of the Buddha's birth
is widely celebrated in Theravada countries as
Vesak.
_
Various sources hold that
the Buddha's mother died at his birth,
a few days or seven days later.
The infant was given the name Siddhartha , meaning
"he who achieves his aim".
_
During the birth celebrations,
the hermit seer Asita journeyed from his mountain abode
and announced that the child would either become
a great kingor a great holy man.
_
This occurred after Siddhartha placed his feet in Asita's hair
and Asita examined the birthmarks.
_
Suddhodarna held a naming ceremony on the fifth day,
and invited eight brahmin scholars to read the future.
All gave a dual prediction that the baby
would either become a great king or a great holy man.
Kaundinya, the youngest, and later to be the first arahant,
was the only one who unequivocally predicted
that Siddhartha would become
a Buddha.
